SHORT COURSE ARCHIVES is a new training resource of high resolution educational material concerning the structural architecture of the heart in health and disease. It is developed by the founder of www.cardiacmorphology.com, Dr Andrew Cook, from UCL’s Institute of Cardiovascular Science. A logo and a website were needed. Something bold, clear and academic but also visually interesting that could host more than 50 training videos. The project is near completion.
Being an academic website, it was critical to strike the right balance between a simple structure and an interesting design. Positioning the company as too trendy wouldn’t resonate with the more traditional users, so the initial idea was to embed a video in the background of the header giving the users a visible representation of the offering while also adding a subdued design element. The choice of blue is formal, red more anatomic and white was used for clean backgrounds. To add a trendy element separators were used that break the traditional horizontal lines of websites. Everything was arranged on a single landing page for an easy-to-read layout.
